- Avoid publishing a home address, workplace schedule or routine.
- Review privacy settings and photo visibility before sharing.
Recognize Romance Scam Warning Signs
Be cautious when someone quickly declares strong feelings, refuses calls or meetings, claims repeated emergencies, offers an investment, asks you to move money or requests gift cards, cryptocurrency or financial help.

Plan a Safer First Meeting
- Meet in a public place and arrange your own transport.
- Tell a trusted person where you are going and when you expect to return.
- Keep your phone charged and remain in control of food and drinks.
- Leave if you feel pressured or unsafe.
Block, Report and Preserve Evidence
Stop contact and use the platform’s current block or report tools. Save relevant usernames, URLs, messages, receipts and dates when safe to do so. If money was sent, contact the financial provider promptly. Contact local emergency services when there is immediate danger.
Verification Is Not a Guarantee
A badge or completed platform check may provide a signal, but it does not prove that every statement is true or that future conduct will be safe. Continue using reasonable judgment and boundaries.
